Nellie Thirza Cosh
4-8 Nellie Thirza Cosh, B. 17 January 1895, M. James Snelling in 1925 (B. 14 December
1882, D. 16 January 1960 in Portland OR), D. 14 November 1973. Their two children died in
infancy.
James had married #1 Mary Jones, who died soon after he returned from
the Army in WWI. They had two daughters and two sons. The daughters remained in England.
The sons came to the USA after his marriage to Nellie and were ship builders in OR.
5-27 William James, B. 18 February 1909 in Wales, England, M. Elsie Miriam Pratt of
Idaho on 27 August 1933.
They reside in Grants Pass, OR. He became a minister of the Church of
the Brethren.
6-92 James Randolph, B. 4 June 1934, M. Jane Friesen on 25 May 1956.
This couple have three sons and three daughters.
5-28 Frederick George, B. 15 June 1913 in South Wales, England, M. Ester Waters on 11
June 1937.
James and his brother, William, came to the USA and Thomas and Ann
hired them to build the addition to their house, the big dining room and the bedrooms
above. Jim and Nellie became friends but marriage to her cousin was discouraged.
The Snelling brothers went to Oregon and worked as brick masons. Jim
and Nellie wrote letters for two years, when he returned to Sussex, they were married.
They went to Oregon.
Jim and Nellie visited relatives in Sussex at Christmas in 1936 and in
1956 they attended the reunion in Beemerville. Aunt Nellie attended in 1961 and 1970. The
William Snellings attended in 1984. Fred Esther and Laura were present in 1985.
